Finally...
« on: March 07, 2010, 08:20:11 PM »
You couldn’t ask for a better day! Was this not cycling temperatures or what? The SSsweeney report got my juices flowing for sure. I had been in there Friday night, and just knowing this park like the back of my hand, I also knew the sections that were rideable, and those that were not...

His observation of the “thorns from Hell” could not have been more spot on. There will be some serious trail work just to uncover the trail itself! Hundreds of yards of trail are impassable. And the snow laden, encroaching culprits are completely full of thorns. It is a biker’s worst nightmare, no doubt...

I didn’t even venture anywhere close to those trails today, so my pics will be the general fare of sweetness that a very nice March ride produced...

Sun splash city as I started out from the lot at 12:00 noon...

Bethpage is a great place to ride. Hard core guys will always say it’s too tame, but I would beg to differ on that account. You just need to take it up a notch and blast intervals if you want the same burn. The trails are a lot of fun. I particularly like the fact that there is no designated loop. I find my self looping back from an approach and taking it back the reverse way many a time. Trails going backward turn into new trails for me...

The following shots are from the “fabled” Brickyard, where many a biker gets completely immersed in the surroundings and locks in with a focus that it not really required elsewhere in the park. There are hills, speed, and a jump here and there to get those juices flowing. I snapped some shots of a new approach I hadn’t seen. Not sure when and if I might try it...

And finally...

On the way home I couldn't help it...

Nice looking trails Dawg!! Hopefully I can swing a day trip out with Tom this summer!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body but rather to skid broadside totally worn out proclaiming “”WOW What a RIDE!”
