Here's the story of my USE "Sumo" Ti seatpost:
On my SC classic BLUR, i used to have a carbon seatpost. There was a problem with it and it almost got fused into the seat tube.
After alot of struggling (used a hairdryer to expand the seat tube) i was finally able to get the thing out...all chewed up and trashed.
Now the challenge was to get a kewl seatpost that was NOT carbon.
Of course Titanium is always nice, very functional, blingy.
But what to get?
My regular bike tech suggested the USE SUMO™.
But there was an issue. ..The SUMO did not come in exactly the right size as my seat tube and a shim was required because no one had a Ti post in the size needed.
I hate shims (in most cases). Shimming something means that it doesn't quite fit right. Shims for my brake calipers
, shims are a dirty fix IMHO.
The nylon shim allows the post to slide nicely up and down (which i do a few times on given rides) and protects the post from any scratches...an added bonus.
I'm lovin it...shim and all. This is the nicest seatpost i've ever had.
The seat adjustment is stellar. No detents that force the seat into a notched position. The seat rail clamping mechanism is a work of art,..complete in form and function.
In conclusion, all i can say is
MAGNIFIQUE !! (French for: DOPE!)
