Michelin X'trem dual compound
« on: January 10, 2009, 07:06:49 PM »
well, got these tires from my local shop.  tubeless, little heavy but made for the rugged rides so you'd expect that. the "Gray" tread color was a bit differant also... kinda cool looking once on the bike.

well I got one on the rear and took off... SUPER great traction!! great roll for such a large lugged tire. gripped slippery rocks faces like a dream.... but... after about 10 miles,... 1/3 of the outer lugs where cracking away from the tire. not the lug it's self cracking but the holes were going down below the surface of the tire.. scared I was going to loose air.  took them back.. gave me a new one... headed out to Long Island... one lap around Rocky Point and pretty much every outer lug was peeling   :(  And RP is kinda a soft-hard pack, not rocks and stone faces.  went back to the kenda Nevegals!!!  Pretty sad too because the traction was better than any other tire I had ridden. But the peeling of the lugs in such a short time is, well... :bs:

If you were racing, and tossed your tires each race... they would be perfect... for the daily rider... don't bother!!

( PS, I have heard the the "black" tread tires (not dual compound) are darn good, but haven't tried one yet)
