From what I get out of the info they have over on GF site... the Head tube is tapered.. bigger on the bottom, smaller up top.. stronger/stiffer steering while still able to use standard Stem.
also.. the fork tubes are pushed forward of the steering/head tube more than most current forks. give you a more stable feel because the front tire is farther forward, making center of weight back...

If you are going to be doing heavy bombing down a trail or doing some light downhill.. i'd probably go with the Fisher.. They are both claimed to be "rugged, long travel XC bikes" but you're less likely to go over the handle bars over the Specialized.
but I'm just speculating, it's really all how you feel on the bike.
